Activities in The Gambia
The Gambia is a small country, but there is plenty to see and do. Afroco Apartment's can be the perfect place from which to explore the Gambia. If you fancy lying in the sun and enjoying the warm temperatures, you are most welcome to do so in our gardens. Fishing trips: The Gambia has many common types of fish. Fishing trips can be organized.

Golfing: There are two golf courses in the Gambia: the 18-hole course (par 69) is located in Fajara (under 20-minute drive from Afroco Apartments) and a 9-hole course (par 3) at Kololi Beach Club in the Senegambia area (under 10-minute drive from Afroco Apartments).

Swimming/Tennis: Some of the bigger hotels in the Senegambia area and the Fajara club, offer both tennis (courts along with the equipment available for rent on site) and swimming pool for a fee.

Massages and beauty treatments: The Coco Ocean Hotel & Spa (Under 5 mins drive from Afroco Apartments) features a nice spa area with sauna and Hamam and offers a wide range of spa treatments.

Bird watching: The Gambia has a huge variety of different species of birds. If you want to discover more of them, you can do so at many spots nearby, e.g. Tanji Bird Reserve, Kotu Stream, and you can find a guide easily to take you to the different spots.

Banjul: Banjul is the capital and port of Gambia, there are guided tours through Banjul, where you can see among other things the Arch 22 and the Albert Market.

Bijilo Forest Park – “Monkey Park”: On a stroll through this unspoiled park you can encounter and observe trusting long-tailed monkeys and if you are lucky the red colobus monkeys.

River Trips: River boat trips can be arranged which take you through the Gambia river and show you the beauty of River Gambia.

Kachikally – The holy crocodiles: Kachikally in Bakau is a short 20-minute drive from Afroco Apartments, this is where there are crocodiles living in a traditional crocodile pool, these crocodiles are said to have unique healing powers. You can visit a small museum there as well as have the opportunity to watch these fascinating reptiles close-by. The very brave among you can also stroke them.

Brikama Craft Market: Ther market is about 30 minutes drive from Afroco Apartments, it is the biggest wood carvers’ market in the Gambia. You can watch skilled craftsmen as they work carving out beautiful pieces of art. And if watching is not enough you can acquire some beautiful African carvings and paintings from here at bargain prices.
